From the Mayo Clinic...
...echoing what I have always suspected: When you need to assault weight for the short term (i.e lose a lot of weight to make up for a lifetime of terrible decisions - but who's counting?), an Atkins approach works, shortcomings and all. You can as well infer that, once you do hit your target weight, you'll have to permanently change your dietary approach, emphasizing fruits, beans, seeds, nuts, vegetables, lean meats, low-fat dairy, leafy greens, and of course deep ocean fish. One way diets that throw you into ketosis work is that they simply kill your appetite (which this article hints at). For those of us who go through life with seemingly limitless appetites of all kinds, that's a novel thing.
